WELLINGBOROUGH RAPIST AND MURDERER JAILED FOR A MINIMUM OF 26 YEARS

A convicted killer who came to Britain has been jailed for a minimum of 26 years for the rape and attempted murder of a stranger he left for dead in an alleyway.Sergiu Boianjiu, 38, attacked the woman as she walked home in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, in February.His trial heard he was jailed in 2009 for murdering his girlfriend in his home country of Moldova.Judge David Herbert KC passed a life sentence at Northampton Crown Court.Boianjiu, of Melton Road North in Wellingborough, was found guilty of both charges, but was found not guilty of a second charge of rape.He had already admitted attempted rape.The Moldovan national came to Britain after serving 10 years for murdering his partner in the former Soviet Union republic in 2002.
