GLOUCESTER MAN SENTENCED TO JAIL FOR RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT
Segun 'Michael' Ogundipe, aged 33 and residing on Tuffley Lane, Gloucester, was convicted of raping and sexually assaulting a woman.He was sentenced to five years in prison and will face deportation due to the severity of his crime.
The incident occurred after Ogundipe met the victim at her workplace in 2022 and suggested they go out for drinks, during which he increasingly sexualized the interaction, making her uncomfortable.
He then stopped at his house, where he sexually assaulted and raped her following her use of the toilet.
Ogundipe continued to attempt to touch her as he drove her to Cheltenham, leading to police stopping their vehicle due to his reckless driving.
The victim later disclosed the assault to officers, leading to Ogundipe's arrest.
He denied the allegations, claiming the victim consented, but the jury found him guilty of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and assault by penetration.
During sentencing, the court considered his previous good character, but ultimately sentenced him to six years including deportation.
The victim described the impact on her life, including emotional and psychological trauma, and urged others to report similar crimes.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Jon Furse praised her courage and emphasized the police's commitment to holding sexual offenders accountable.
