TEXT-MAD SEAN PARRY WHO DIDN'T GET THE MESSAGE HIS EX NO LONGER WANTED HIM
Sean Parry left 140 voicemails and texts for Angela Fawcett - 60 in one day alone.His actions forced Deputy District Judge David Scanlon to make a restraining order banning him from contacting her for two years.
He pleaded guilty to harassment between August 11 and September 23 this year, following an on/off nine year relationship with Ms Fawcett.
The court was told that he was upset following their breakup.
Andy Day, mitigating, said: “At the start they’d agreed that if they ever split up they would tell each other but she hadn’t told him.” “Then he wondered if her phone had broken, he was drinking heavily and became increasingly frustrated.” “He started to message her but she didn’t respond.
It’s a very high number of messages and Mr Parry accepts that things went way beyond what he should have been doing.” Parry was particularly upset as he felt he’d made sacrifices for his ex and spent a lot of money on her.
Mr Day added that his client is now in a better place and accepts the fact that his relationship is over.
Judge Scanlon told Parry: “You’ve sat at home, had a drink and let the break up fester.
If I’d been in your position I’d have got the message after 10 texts not 140.
You don’t know how you’ve affected her when the phone rings and she gets another text.
She may be thinking ‘is he going to come up and knock on my door?’ and ‘is he going to wait for me when I come out of work?’ She’s not a possession, she’s a person.” Judge Scanlon made a two-year restraining order banning Parry from contacting Ms Fawcett or going to her address.
He will also have to pay her £200 in compensation and a £100 fine.
Additionally, he was sentenced to a community order with 25 rehabilitation activity days and warned that he risks his liberty if he breaches the court order.
