According to court proceedings, the tragic events unfolded following a heated dispute over Sean's plans to leave his family home with his five-year-old daughter.

Sean had informed his parents of his intentions, which sparked a confrontation that quickly escalated into violence.

The court heard that the altercation took place in the garage of the family residence, where Colin McSweeny claimed that his son, Sean, turned around holding golf clubs and shouting at him.
