SCOTT WATSON AND SHOCKING SEXUAL ABUSE IN ESSEX AND PETERBOROUGH
A man named Scott Watson has been sentenced to prison after being convicted of grooming and sexually abusing a young girl.Watson, who resides in Town Square, Basildon, was found to have targeted a 13-year-old girl, exploiting her vulnerability before engaging in a series of disturbing acts.
The sequence of events began on January 25 of the previous year when Watson first encountered the victim outside a shop in Peterborough.
The two initiated a conversation, during which Watson asked the girl her age.
Upon learning that she was just 13 years old, Watson reportedly began to compliment her physical features.
Following this initial meeting, they exchanged personal mobile phone numbers, setting the stage for further communication.
Subsequent to their initial encounter, Watson and the victim met again later on the same day.
Their exchanges continued through various messaging platforms including Snapchat, WhatsApp, and standard text messages.
During these interactions, Watson persistently requested to meet again and expressed a desire to engage in sexual acts with her.
The predator also demanded that the girl send explicit photographs of herself.
In these messages, Watson confirmed that he was aware of the girl’s age, which heightened the severity of the case.
The grooming and manipulation persisted over the following months.
On April 19, Watson and the girl arranged yet another meeting, during which they visited multiple locations.
During these outings, Watson supplied her with alcohol and cannabis, along with a substance that rendered the girl unconscious.
Despite his advances and explicit propositions for sexual activity, the girl refused to comply.
The gravity of Watson’s actions and the evidence presented in court led to his conviction.
On March 9, at Cambridge Crown Court, Watson received a sentence of three years and four months imprisonment after admitting to multiple charges, including meeting a child following sexual grooming, engaging in sexual communication with a minor, and inciting a child to partake in sexual activities.
In addition to his prison sentence, Watson was handed a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which is designed to prevent future offenses.
He is also required to register as a sex offender under the Sex Offenders Register, ensuring ongoing monitoring.
Detective Sergeant Rebecca Welberry commented on the case, stating, “Scott Watson shamefully preyed on the victim’s vulnerability to groom and abuse her.
We will always support the strongest possible action for those who abuse children so I am pleased Watson is now behind bars.”
