SCOTT PEARCE SENTENCED IN LEICESTER FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES INVOLVING A 12-YEAR-OLD
In a case that has shocked the community of Leicester, Scott Peter Alec Pearce has been handed a significant prison sentence after being found guilty of multiple child sexual offences. The offences, which occurred between November 2019 and March 2020, involved the sexual abuse of a young girl under the age of 13, including four counts of rape and one count of sexual assault by penetration.
Pearce, aged 27 and currently held at HMP Leicester, appeared before Leicester Crown Court on Monday, May 4.
He pleaded guilty to the charges, which led to his sentencing to more than eight years behind bars.
In addition to his prison term, Pearce was subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), a legal measure designed to restrict his contact with children and prevent further offences.
Furthermore, he was ordered to be registered on the Sex Offenders Register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
The case came to light after a concerned grandparent contacted police in March of this year.
The grandparent disclosed that their 12-year-old grandchild had confided in them about having sexual intercourse with Pearce on four separate occasions.
This revelation prompted an immediate response from law enforcement authorities, who launched a detailed investigation into the allegations.
Investigators from the Child Abuse Investigation Unit swiftly began their inquiries, starting with a video interview of the young girl.
During the interview, she disclosed that the abuse had started as early as 2019 and continued up until just days before police were contacted.
She provided detailed accounts of the incidents, including the times when Pearce had raped her and sexually touched her, painting a disturbing picture of ongoing abuse.
Following the disclosures, Pearce was arrested and taken in for questioning.
During his police interview, he made a limited number of admissions, which contributed to the charges brought against him.
He was subsequently charged with the offences and remanded in custody to appear before the court for sentencing.
The case has highlighted the importance of vigilance and swift action in protecting vulnerable children from harm, and the community of Leicester can now be assured that justice has been served in this troubling case.
