Taunton Child Sexual Abuser
A man from Taunton, Scott Nicholls, has been sentenced to prison after attempting to meet a young girl for sexual activity at a hotel in Bridgend. The 41-year-old, who works as an ambulance worker and previously volunteered at the London Olympics, was found guilty of multiple serious charges related to child exploitation.

According to court records, Nicholls engaged in a series of disturbing communications with what he believed was a 12-year-old girl, known online as 'Welsh Beth.' These exchanges included graphic messages and the sharing of obscene images, which are considered clear evidence of grooming behavior. The police operation that led to his arrest involved an officer posing as the girl, which ultimately uncovered his intentions.

In June, Nicholls went ahead with his plans, booking accommodation at a hotel in Bridgend. He arrived at the scene carrying sex toys, indicating his intent to engage in sexual activity. However, law enforcement officers were waiting for him and arrested him at the scene. During the investigation, it was also revealed that Nicholls possessed and shared indecent images of children, further highlighting the severity of his offenses.

The court heard that Nicholls not only attempted to meet a minor for sex but also admitted to possessing and distributing illegal images of children. His actions prompted a comprehensive legal response, resulting in a sentence of six years in prison. This sentence was extended by an additional four years due to the gravity of his crimes. Furthermore, the court imposed a sexual offences prevention order to restrict his future conduct and protect the community from potential harm.
