The girl revealed that the more she pretended to be younger, the more excited Lynch became.

Investigations uncovered that Lynch had downloaded and shared child pornography online, and he engaged in conversations with others who shared similar disturbing interests. He also convinced another girl over the internet to perform sexual acts and send him explicit photographs. Lynch’s online activities included messaging via Snapchat, where messages were deleted after 15 seconds, and he encouraged the girl to wear provocative clothing and dress younger.

Police linked Lynch’s internet activity to indecent images, leading to a search of his home. Authorities discovered approximately 200 images, some of which had been distributed. Lynch admitted to police that he and the girl had engaged in sexual activity in his classroom, which he filmed for later viewing.

During the court proceedings, Judge Rhys Rowlands condemned Lynch’s actions as “depravity plain and simple,” emphasizing that he had targeted a vulnerable girl for his own sexual gratification. Lynch, aged 33, was sentenced to five years in prison and was ordered to register as a sex offender for life. Additionally, an indefinite sexual harm prevention order was issued, barring him from working with children or vulnerable adults.

Prosecutor Anna Pope highlighted Lynch’s clear sexual interest in children, stating, “This defendant has a clear sexual interest in children. Over a two-year period he acted out that interest.”

Further details revealed that Lynch and the girl exchanged contact information, with her visiting his classroom after school to engage in sexual acts that he filmed. The court was told that Lynch encouraged her to wear provocative clothing and dress younger, and that they had a day out in Porthmadog. The sexual acts in question also took place in a Travel Lodge in the Oswestry area.

Following Lynch’s arrest, police visited his home after internet activity linked to indecent images was traced back to him. The investigation uncovered approximately 200 images, some of which had been shared online. Lynch admitted to police that he had engaged in sexual activity with the girl in his classroom and that he filmed these encounters for his own gratification.

In a separate incident in November 2017, Judge Rhys Rowlands issued a stark warning regarding the handling of Lynch’s case. Lynch appeared at Mold Crown Court facing 17 charges, including engaging in sexual activity with a child while in a position of trust, inciting a child to engage in sexual acts, and possessing and distributing indecent images. Despite the severity of the charges, Lynch was released on bail without restrictions that would prevent him from contacting his victim or approaching children.

Judge Rowlands expressed concern over this decision, describing it as “a fairly extraordinary state of affairs,” and warned that such leniency could lead to disastrous consequences. He emphasized that once the case was in the hands of the Crown Prosecution Service, bail conditions should be immediately imposed to prevent contact with victims.

While Lynch was rebailed with conditions including residence restrictions and a prohibition on contacting minors, the judge reserved sentencing until December 13, pending a pre-sentence report to assess his background and potential risk.
