NORTH-EAST MAN'S CONFRONTATION AT PUB LEADS TO DEFERRED SENTENCE
A man from the north-east who entered a pub aggressively to confront his former partner over their breakup has been given a chance to demonstrate he can avoid further trouble.Scott Falconer appeared before Peterhead Sheriff Court yesterday to admit to shouting and using offensive language directed at Morgan McLeod at the Brucklay Arms Hotel in New Deer on September 6.
The 36-year-old acknowledged guilty to conduct that was threatening and abusive, likely to cause reasonable fear or distress to others.
Prosecutor Callum Thomson explained that the couple had been together for eight months and had cohabited until their relationship ended on August 31, primarily due to Falconer’s controlling behaviour, after which Ms McLeod moved out.
On September 6, Falconer entered the pub abruptly, shouting and swearing at Ms McLeod, which caused her to feel frightened.
He was subsequently located and arrested.
Defense representative Andrew Ormiston stated Falconer, residing at Auchreddie Croft, New Deer, had gone there to discuss their breakup and that reconciliation was now being considered, with Ms McLeod choosing to remain nearby.
The sheriff postponed sentencing for six months, allowing Falconer an opportunity to show good behaviour.
