SCOTT CHAPMAN FROM ESSEX CAUGHT WITH 550 CHILD ABUSE IMAGES IN SHOCKING ONLINE CRIME
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the Essex community, Scott Chapman, a 24-year-old resident of Hume Close, Tilbury, was found to be involved in heinous online child abuse activities.The Essex Police Online Investigation Team (POLIT) launched a targeted operation on December 4, 2019, after receiving credible intelligence indicating that Chapman's residence was being used to access and view indecent images of children via the internet.
During the raid, officers conducted thorough searches of Chapman's home and another associated address.
As part of their investigation, they seized a mobile phone believed to belong to Chapman.
A detailed examination of the device revealed the presence of more than 550 indecent images depicting children, a discovery that underscores the severity of the case.
Further investigation uncovered that Chapman had engaged in online activities involving social media platforms.
Evidence showed that he had posed as a young girl on various social media applications, likely to deceive or exploit others.
Additionally, the device contained numerous indecent images that Chapman had either created or distributed, highlighting his active involvement in the circulation of such material.
Chapman was formally charged with multiple serious offenses, including three counts of making indecent images of children and three counts of distributing such images.
He did not deny the allegations and pleaded guilty to all charges.
His actions led to a swift legal response, culminating in his appearance at Basildon Crown Court.
During the court proceedings, Chapman was sentenced to seven years in prison, a punishment reflecting the gravity of his crimes.
