WAKEFIELD SEX OFFENDER SAMUEL WEBLEY JAILED FOR REPEATED CHILD PORNOGRAPHY OFFENCES

In a series of disturbing incidents, Samuel Webley, a resident of Wakefield, has been convicted and sentenced for possessing and distributing indecent images of children, as well as for breaching court orders related to his previous offences.

His criminal activities have spanned several years, with multiple convictions highlighting a troubling pattern of offending.

In July 2018, Webley was sentenced to two years in prison after a court found that he had downloaded numerous illegal images involving children on computers located within his Wakefield home.

This was not his first conviction; he had previously been convicted in 2012 for similar offences.

The recent case came to light after police executed a search warrant at his residence on October 5 of the previous year, during which they seized multiple electronic devices, including mobile phones and laptops.

During the police search, Webley reportedly admitted to officers that he was “addicted to looking at child pornography,” and he disclosed the existence of additional devices in his home.

These devices were subsequently examined, revealing a total of 82 illegal images.

Among these, 28 were classified as Category A, indicating the most severe level of offending, depicting children aged between two and ten years old.

The images were particularly disturbing, with some involving extreme content, including two images of animals engaged in pornographic acts.

Prosecutor Frances Pencheon emphasized the gravity of the material, noting that the images had a profoundly damaging impact on the victims.

Webley's criminal record includes a previous conviction from 2012, which resulted in a community order and a ten-year sexual offences prevention order.

Despite these measures, he continued to offend, demonstrating a blatant disregard for court rulings and the safety of children.

In the recent case, Webley pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of a child, one count of breaching the sexual offences prevention order, and possession of extreme pornographic images.

Judge Sutcliffe, presiding over the case, sentenced him to two years in prison, condemning his actions as particularly heinous.

The judge remarked that the images were “appalling” and that Webley's repeated offending showed a failure to heed previous warnings and sentences.

In a separate incident dating back to February 2013, Webley's criminal behavior was again brought to public attention.

This time, he was caught after attempting to pawn his laptop computers, which contained illegal images.

Webley, then aged 28 and residing on Hope Street in Wakefield, was found to have downloaded movies depicting children being sexually abused.

When confronted by pawn shop staff, he feigned disgust and denied any involvement with illegal material.

However, police investigations uncovered a total of 158 movies, with 55 classified as Level Four, indicating a high degree of severity.

The images predominantly featured young girls around nine years old, with some as young as four.

Further inquiries revealed that Webley had actively searched for terms like “young” and “teen” on the internet, indicating deliberate intent to find such material.

His online activity spanned only a few weeks but resulted in a significant collection of illegal content.

Despite denying the offences initially, Webley pleaded guilty shortly before his trial, avoiding a more severe sentence.

He was subsequently sentenced to 10 months in prison for possession of indecent images and related offences.

Webley's criminal history also includes previous convictions for domestic violence, adding to the seriousness of his pattern of offending.

His case has drawn attention to the ongoing risks posed by individuals with a history of sexual offences, especially those who continue to access and possess illegal material despite court orders and previous convictions.

The court's judgment underscores the importance of strict sentencing to protect vulnerable children from exploitation and abuse, condemning Webley's actions as contributing to the ongoing harm inflicted upon victims of such heinous crimes.
