Caerphilly man jailed for brutal domestic violence attack after coercing victim to lie

CAERPHILLY MAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ATTACK AFTER COERCING VICTIM TO LIE

A man named Samuel Roberts from Caerphilly has been convicted of violently assaulting his partner after she refused to have sex with him.

The assault occurred last year in their family home, during which Roberts inflicted multiple injuries on his partner, including damage to her lip, eye, head, and bicep.

The court heard that Roberts, who has a严重 criminal history of domestic violence and assaults, had 33 convictions for 77 offences such as GBH, affray, and breaches of restraining orders.

During the sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court, Roberts was represented in custody and showed no remorse.

The court was informed that Roberts told his partner to lie to the police that her injuries resulted from someone else.

However, the woman courageously provided the police with accurate details of the incident, leading to Roberts's arrest and subsequent guilty plea for assault occasioning actual bodily harm and strangulation.

Prosecutor Paul Hewitt highlighted Roberts's extensive criminal record and history of domestic violence.

The victim expressed her relief while Roberts was remanded in custody, fearing his eventual release.

Judge Eugene Egan sentenced Roberts to 17 months in immediate custody, emphasizing that only a custodial sentence was justified due to the severity of his violence and intimidation.

A restraining order was also issued to prevent him from contacting the victim, her daughter, or her mother for at least 10 years.
