SAMAUN SHAH FROM MANCHESTER SENTENCED FOR BRUTAL RAPE IN TRAFFORD
A man described by police as a 'depraved sexual predator' has been sentenced to prison after committing a heinous sexual assault in Trafford, Manchester.Samaun Shah, a 44-year-old resident of Hornby Road, Stretford, was convicted of kidnapping and raping a woman in a terrifying incident that has left a lasting impact on the victim.
According to Greater Manchester Police, the assault occurred in the early hours of April 4th, around 03:15 BST.
The victim, a woman in her 40s, was walking towards Tesco on Chester Road when she encountered Shah.
The police report states that she approached him asking for a cigarette, which Shah initially provided.
However, what followed was a disturbing sequence of events that culminated in a violent sexual assault.
After giving her the cigarette, Shah insisted that she accompany him to Old Trafford Metrolink station.
Instead of complying, Shah then forcibly dragged her into a nearby deserted car park in Trafford.
It was there that he subjected her to a terrifying rape, an ordeal that the victim is expected to carry with her for the rest of her life.
The incident was so severe that police described Shah as a 'dangerous man' who had taken advantage of a vulnerable woman.
Following his arrest, Shah initially denied any involvement in the crime.
He claimed that he had been in bed at the time of the assault, a denial that was quickly challenged by evidence.
Police investigators presented CCTV footage showing Shah walking with the woman, which directly contradicted his claims.
Despite this clear evidence, Shah persisted in denying the charges against him.
Det Con Paul Walls, who led the investigation, expressed his condemnation of Shah’s actions.
He described him as a 'depraved sexual predator' who preyed on a woman simply asking for a cigarette.
Det Con Walls emphasized that Shah's choice of a secluded location was deliberate, aimed at avoiding detection during his assault.
He further stated that the victim’s trauma would be a lasting reminder of the brutality she endured.
At Bolton Crown Court, Shah was found guilty and sentenced to eight years in prison.
The police and the court have highlighted the importance of removing such dangerous individuals from the streets to protect the community.
Det Con Walls concluded by condemning Shah’s arrogance in denying the crime even when confronted with CCTV evidence, calling it a reflection of his contempt for justice and the suffering he caused.
