They have shown a huge amount of resilience throughout the investigation. No sentence will be long enough for the string of horrific offences committed by Burton, but we hope that the family and the victims can now move forward following today’s sentencing. These abhorrent acts were shocking in nature and Burton will now have to serve a lengthy prison sentence as a result of his actions. He will also be on the sex offenders’ register for life, and so when he is finally released from custody, he will always be subject to stringent monitoring to ensure that he never has the opportunity to carry out such acts again. Burton must abide by a sexual harm prevention order and restraining order for life.
