LONDON MAN JAILED FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING SIX WOMEN ON THE TUBE
A 'revolting' individual, Saiful Islam, has been convicted for sexually assaulting six women on the London Underground over a period spanning from 2012 to 2017.
The 27-year-old, who was without a fixed residence, was sentenced to two years in prison at Blackfriars Crown Court after pleading guilty to six counts of sexual assault.
The assaults took place on various train lines including the Central, Northern, and Piccadilly lines, with incidents occurring at stations such as Liverpool Street, London Bridge, Holborn, and others.
Islam was arrested earlier this year in January when police collected DNA evidence from clothing belonging to five of the victims.
The women affected by his actions described feeling 'disgusted' and 'violated' by his conduct, which shocked the community.
Detective Constable Allan McTaggart expressed satisfaction that Islam is now behind bars, stating, 'They were upset, angry, shocked – these women were simply travelling when they were subject to a revolting attack by Saiful Islam.' Justice also ordered Islam to sign the Violent and Sex Offender Register for ten years.
Authorities urge any victims of unwanted sexual behavior on the railway network to report incidents via the provided contact details.
