PSNI OFFICER CONVICTED OF HISTORIC CHILD SEX OFFENCE
Update 30/06/2026: Dungannon Crown Court today (30th June) sentenced Ryan McKenna to 12 months in prison and a further 12 months on probation.The 43-year-old has also been given a five-year sexual offences prevention order limiting his actions after he’s released, and will spend 10 years on the sex offenders register.

Ryan McKenna, 41, whose address was given as c/o PSNI headquarters in Belfast, stood trial at Dungannon Crown Court after being charged with five charges relating to a female child under the age of 13.
He was found guilty of one of the offences, gross indecency towards a child on a date between November 22, 2004, and February 1, 2009.
The jury was unable to reach a verdict on a charge of indecent assault.
McKenna was found not guilty of the other three charges of gross indecency towards a child, sexual assault and committing a sex act in front of a child.
Following the conviction, McKenna, who was an officer operating in the Ballymena area, was remanded in custody pending his sentencing which is due to take place on January 22, 2026.
A PSNI spokesperson said: "Legal proceedings are on-going and therefore it would not be appropriate for the Police Service of Northern Ireland to comment at this time."
