RYAN MARSHALL SENTENCED IN SOUTHAMPTON FOR SEVERAL SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST TEENAGE GIRL
Ryan Marshall, aged 24, from Caymer Road, Scarborough, was sentenced at Southampton Crown Court after being convicted of multiple serious sexual offences involving a young girl from the Southampton area.Prosecutor Rose Burns detailed that Marshall abused a teenage girl, leading to her suffering from anxiety, PTSD, and depression.
Burns recounted that on one occasion, the defendant met his victim at Eastleigh Train Station, and they went to a nearby field where they engaged in sexual activity.
Marshall then threatened to distribute intimate photos of her and even pressured her into having sex with someone else.
Police later seized many of Marshall’s devices, which contained indecent images of the victim.
The court heard a victim personal statement in which the girl revealed that the abuse began when she was only 12 years old.
She described how Marshall forced her into acts she did not want to do, stating, “I was terrified and scared and could not tell anyone anything.” The girl added, “I feel like you have destroyed the person I was.” Marshall faced charges before the court, including four counts of sexual activity with a child, causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, grooming, attempting to incite sexual activity with a child, possession of indecent images of children, and malicious communications.
He pleaded guilty to all offences committed between 2018 and June 2019.
His defender, Alejandra Tascon, described him as having led an “isolated and secluded life,” primarily caring for his mother during his teenage years.
She acknowledged that Marshall “should have known better” and “should have stopped because she was a child,” but claimed he believed he and the victim “were in a relationship” and that “he cared for her, and he loved her.” Judge Nicholas Rowland sentenced Marshall to three years and nine months in prison.
Additionally, he was issued a ten-year sexual harm prevention order and will be required to register as a sex offender for life.
