RYAN HIGHFIELD AND HIS SHOCKING PAEDOPHILE ACTIVITIES IN BOURNEMOUTH AND CHRISTCHURCH

A well-known child sex offender from Bournemouth, Ryan Highfield, has been brought to justice after being caught engaging in predatory behavior involving minors on two separate occasions within the span of a month.

This individual, aged 37, was involved in a series of concerning interactions with individuals he believed to be underage girls, but who were in fact decoy operatives operating under the supervision of vigilant paedophile hunters.

The first incident occurred at a popular fast-food establishment on Christchurch Road in Boscombe, Bournemouth, on the evening of October 27, 2022.

Highfield had made arrangements to meet what he thought was a 13-year-old girl at a McDonald’s location.

This encounter was part of an operation conducted by a paedophile hunting group that had lured Highfield into messaging and planning a meeting via online communications.

The individual he was communicating with was not a genuine minor but an adult posing as a young girl.

Members from the intervention group intercepted Highfield at McDonald's before police were able to arrest him at the scene.

Following this arrest, Highfield was released under investigation, yet he did not refrain from further contact with minors in online spaces.

On November 20, 2022, merely a few weeks after his first encounter, he arranged to meet another decoy posing as an 11 or 12-year-old girl, this time at Pokesdown Railway Station.

Again, spotters from a vigilant group, aware of the communication, arranged to meet him and subsequently handed him over to the authorities for police arrest.

Throughout these months, Highfield engaged in messaging with a total of five individuals, all claiming to be girls.

His typical opening line was often a casual compliment such as “hey, you are stunning.” His messages contained increasingly explicit content, including expressions like, “if only you were older,” which he elaborated on by saying, “because I would love to **** you,” when questioned by the decoy about his intentions.

During the interactions, the convicted offender was told that the ‘girls’ he was chatting with were underage.

Despite this, he persistently expressed his interest in engaging in sexual activities with them.

He even sent a pornographic video and an indecent photograph of himself to the decoy, inviting her to visit his flat.

Highfield also asked the ‘girls’ to send him pictures in return and to perform sexual acts on themselves.

It is important to note that all the minors in these exchanges were not real children but were created and controlled by adult vigilantes seeking to identify and apprehend individuals like Highfield.

In his statements, the judge explained, “None of these children were real children.

They were adults posing as children.

Adults attempting to discover and lead to the apprehension of people considered to be paedophiles.” Highfield, formerly residing on Haviland Road East in Bournemouth, pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including five counts of attempted sexual communication with a child, one count of attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming, one count of arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence, one count of attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity, and five counts of breaching a sexual offences prevention order.

The prosecution highlighted Highfield’s extensive criminal history, revealing 13 previous convictions for 26 offences dating back to 2000.

Since 2012, he had been subject to a sexual offences prevention order following prior convictions related to sexual activity with a 14-year-old girl and attempting to meet a 13-year-old girl after grooming her online.

During his recent offenses, evidence showed that Highfield sent messages such as ‘if only you were older,’ and explicitly expressed a desire to engage in sexual acts.

His communications included making comments like “I bet you look well sexy in your uniform,” and requesting images of the decoy ‘girls’ performing sex acts.

He also sent explicit videos and photographs of himself, further highlighting his predatory intentions.

While these exchanges appeared to involve minors, the court was informed that the profiles used for these interactions were established by vigilant adults, with the intent to trap and detain individuals with similar predatory inclinations.

Highfield’s criminal record also includes a previous conviction for sexual grooming involving a 14-year-old, and his current charges cover a range of serious offenses related to attempting to exploit minors.

In mitigation, his legal representative, Nick Robinson, explained that the offending was unsophisticated, as Highfield used his real name and photograph on his online profiles.

He also noted Highfield’s traumatic childhood—being placed in care from the age of six—and his learning disabilities, which contributed to his impulsive behavior.

The defense argued that Highfield had “acted out his impulse” and lacked full awareness of the consequences.

On May 23, at Bournemouth Crown Court, Judge William Mousley KC sentenced Highfield to eight years in prison, coupled with a three-year extended license period.

The judge emphasized that Highfield was considered a dangerous offender owing to his history, the nature of his recent conduct, and his overall profile.

Under law, such individuals face extended license conditions to monitor and restrict their activities post-release.

Highfield will be eligible for parole consideration after serving a minimum of five years and four months behind bars.

Furthermore, he was subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and obliged to register as a sex offender indefinitely, both measures designed to protect the public from future offending.

Commenting on the case, Detective Constable Matt Loader of Dorset Police’s Paedophile Online Investigation Team (POLIT) stated, “Ryan Highfield is a repeat offender whose behaviour clearly indicates he had the intention of committing sexual offences involving children and he posed a threat to vulnerable young people.

We have worked hard to compile evidence in this case, and our detailed investigation has helped ensure that Highfield now faces a significant period behind bars.”
