CHELMSFORD POLICE OFFICER RYAN GILROY CHARGED WITH STALKING IN CHELMSFORD
A serving officer with Essex Police, 32-year-old PC Ryan Gilroy, is set to face justice in Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, May 7, after being formally charged with the serious offense of stalking.According to official court documents, Gilroy, who resides on Bolsin Drive in Chelmsford, is accused of engaging in a sustained pattern of conduct that qualifies as stalking under the law.
The allegations detail a series of troubling behaviors directed towards a woman, which have caused significant concern and distress.
The accusations include Gilroy repeatedly visiting the woman’s residence without invitation, leaving handwritten letters on her vehicle, and making threatening statements, including threats to take his own life.
Additionally, he allegedly made persistent phone calls and sent numerous text messages, all of which contributed to a pattern of harassment that authorities have classified as stalking.
Gilroy was initially arrested in September of the previous year in connection with these allegations.
Following his arrest, he was charged with the offense and has since been summoned to appear before the magistrates.
It is important to note that he is currently suspended from his duties as a police officer while the case is ongoing.
An Essex Police spokesperson confirmed the upcoming court appearance and provided further details, revealing that Gilroy, who is from Colchester, has been linked to a series of alleged offenses spanning from May 2023 through September 2024.
