RYAN FOSTER FROM HARTLEPOOL SENTENCED AFTER SEXUAL ASSAULT ON UNDERAGE GIRL IN TEESSIDE
In a case that has shocked the Hartlepool community and the surrounding areas, Ryan Foster, a 23-year-old man from Hartlepool, was found guilty of sexually assaulting a minor and was subsequently ordered to stay away from girls under the age of 16 for a period of five years. The incident took place in Teesside, where Foster's actions have led to a significant legal response and a court hearing that revealed disturbing details about the assault.
According to court reports, Foster was accused of groping an underage girl while she was sleeping.
The court was told that the assault was not an isolated incident but was followed by intimidation and verbal abuse directed at the victim.
The prosecutor, Shaun Dodds, detailed that Foster had attempted to initiate further contact by asking the girl if he could play with her bra strap, to which she responded firmly, telling him to leave her alone and expressing her desire to have no further interaction.
During the assault, Foster reportedly pulled down his trousers and touched the girl inappropriately before she managed to push him away, screaming for help.
The court also heard that some time after the incident, Foster continued to intimidate the girl in the community, shouting at her with derogatory language.
In one such incident, he called her a “fat slag” and threatened that he would get away with his actions, adding, “you’re the one that deserves to die.” The victim, in a heartfelt Victim Impact statement read aloud in court, expressed her distress and the emotional toll the assault and subsequent bullying had taken on her.
She stated, “I’m really upset that he should intimidate me.
I knew the people at school would be talking about me.
I was angry because of what he did to me.
I feel that people are talking about me all the time.
They called me a slut.
I don’t deserve this because I have done nothing wrong.
I am angry at myself for letting him get to me.
I sometimes see him in my local area and he shouts at me.” Foster’s criminal history includes a period of detention equivalent to a 12-month jail sentence while he was on remand.
Despite this, he was released from custody but received a suspended prison sentence, meaning he will serve no time in prison unless he commits another offense within the specified period.
The case has left a lasting impact on the victim and highlights ongoing concerns about safeguarding minors and addressing sexual offenses in the Hartlepool area and beyond.
