CRAWLEY MAN GUILTY OF MURDERING MOTHER ON BAIL AND DOMESTIC ABUSE
A man named Ryan Evans, aged 31, was found guilty of murdering Holly Sanchez, a 32-year-old mother of five, and abusing her before her death.Evans was on police bail with conditions that prohibited him from contacting Sanchez when she was discovered dead on his lounge floor in Oates Walk, Crawley, on 13 May 2023.
During the trial at Brighton Crown Court, the prosecution stated that Evans had subjected Sanchez to domestic violence, including beatings and injuries, and caused the serious injuries that led to her death.
He was convicted of murder, one count of unlawful wounding, assault causing actual bodily harm, and controlling and coercive behavior.
He was acquitted of a second unlawful wounding charge.
Testimonies revealed that Sanchez had reported abuse to officers in April 2023 but was too frightened to speak openly.
The police found her dead with multiple injuries, a swollen face, and brain trauma comparable to severe car crash injuries, alongside chest injuries and lung damage that caused pneumonia and her death.
Neighbors had reported incidents, including one where Evans was seen dragging her by her hair.
After the trial, Evans will be sentenced on 13 September.
