July 2013 Pervert ‘ashamed’ of extreme and indecent images POLICE found degrading and humiliating sexual images of children – and others showing women with animals – after searching a man’s computer, a court heard. Ryan Duell, 31, of Fortuna Way, Grimsby, admitted seven offences of making indecent photographs of children and four of possessing extreme images of people in sexual acts with animals. Stephen Welch, prosecuting, told Grimsby Crown Court that police went to Duell’s home on July 3 last year and examined his computer equipment. They found 65 indecent photographs of children, involving young girls, and 53 of extreme images involving animals. David Lee, mitigating, said all the images had been deleted after being viewed. Duell did not realise that the animal images were illegal but knew that those involving children were. Duell had no previous convictions and had worked for 13 years at a local company, including five years as a manager. He had a wife and a child and his interest in the images developed after his relationship with his wife deteriorated and he suffered emotional problems. They had since split up. “He is deeply ashamed of what happened,” said Mr Lee. Recorder Anton Lodge QC told Duell the images showed the “degradation and humiliation of young girls” and had been made by people “far more immoral and wicked” than he was. The images would “in all probability have undermined the normal lives” of those children. Duell was given a three-year supervision order, including a sex offender treatment programme. He was given a five-year sexual offences prevention order and was told to register as a sex offender for five years.
