RYAN BONSU SENTENCED IN BEDDAU FOR PREDATORY SEXUAL OFFENSES AND REPEATED OFFENSES
Ryan Bonsu, a man from Beddau, has been convicted and sentenced for a series of serious sexual offenses that have shocked the local community and prompted a stern response from the judicial system.According to court records, Bonsu was found guilty of attempting to film himself while overpowering and raping a teenage woman. The incident, which took place in the vicinity of Beddau, was part of a broader pattern of disturbing behavior that the court was made aware of during the trial at Cardiff Crown Court.
The court proceedings revealed that Bonsu had previously engaged in illicit activities involving filming himself during consensual sexual encounters with other women, often without their knowledge or consent. These prior offenses added to the severity of his current charges and painted a disturbing picture of his pattern of predatory behavior.
During the trial, it was also disclosed that Bonsu has a history of exposure-related offenses. Specifically, he had been caught exposing himself to staff members at a McDonald's drive-thru and had been observed masturbating in front of another woman at a shared residence. These incidents, which occurred in and around Beddau, demonstrated a troubling escalation in his misconduct over time.
The judge presiding over the case described Bonsu's conduct as 'predatory' and emphasized that his behavior had become increasingly dangerous. A pre-sentence report assessed Bonsu as posing a 'very high risk' of causing serious harm to females aged between 16 and 19. The case was classified as dangerous, leading to a substantial custodial sentence.
As part of his punishment, Bonsu was sentenced to an extended term of 14 years, which includes 10 years of actual imprisonment followed by a four-year extended license period. The court also noted that Bonsu could be eligible for early release after serving two-thirds of his custodial sentence, subject to assessment.
Furthermore, the court mandated that Bonsu register as a sex offender for life and imposed a 15-year sexual harm prevention order to restrict his activities and protect the public. During the sentencing hearing, a victim impact statement was read aloud, describing the profound and lasting effects of Bonsu's actions. The victim detailed suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, flashbacks, and feelings of objectification, which have severely impacted her ability to enjoy life as she once did.
The court underscored the importance of public safety and the need to protect the community from Bonsu's dangerous behavior, reflecting the seriousness with which the justice system treats such offenses and the importance of safeguarding vulnerable individuals in Beddau and beyond.
