Sutton Bridge Child Sexual Abuser
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Sutton Bridge, a local man named Russell Nason has been sentenced to prison after authorities uncovered a significant collection of indecent images involving children. The incident came to light in February 2018 when police officers, conducting a routine investigation, examined Nason's computer and discovered a disturbing array of material.

During the search, law enforcement officials found images depicting children as young as four years old being subjected to sexual abuse. The digital evidence was particularly alarming because the search history on Nason’s device revealed that he had actively sought out websites dedicated to child exploitation, indicating a deliberate and sustained effort to access such content over a period of years.

Russell Nason, aged 34 and residing on Wrights Lane in Sutton Bridge, faced multiple charges in connection with these findings. He pleaded guilty to three counts of creating indecent images of children, totaling 1,081 images, which he had accumulated between May 2009 and September 2016. Additionally, he admitted to possessing extreme pornography, further underscoring the severity of his actions.

The court heard that Nason’s offenses were particularly heinous, involving images of children as young as four years old. Some of the videos found on his devices were lengthy, with one film lasting approximately 46 minutes, illustrating the extent of his engagement with this illicit material.

Judge Simon Hirst, presiding over the case, delivered a stern sentence, emphasizing the gravity of Nason’s crimes. He stated, “The images in your case involve children as young as four. There are moving images with one of the films being 46 minutes long. You have deliberately and systematically searched for indecent images of children over a number of years.”

He further condemned the misconception that such offenses are victimless, asserting, “Every photograph or frame of a film has the face of a child who has been sexually abused in the most cruel way imaginable. In behaving as you did, you perpetuate the market and the distribution of such images.”

In light of the seriousness of the offenses, the judge sentenced Nason to eight months in prison. He was also placed on the sex offenders’ register for ten years and issued a ten-year sexual harm prevention order to restrict his future conduct.

Prosecutor Jonathan Dunne explained that Nason was arrested in September 2016 after police executed a search warrant at his residence, seizing a laptop and a hard drive. During police interviews, Nason made significant admissions, revealing that he had been under considerable stress for a prolonged period. The investigation revealed that most of the children depicted in the images were between 11 and 13 years old, although some were as young as four or five, highlighting the disturbing nature of his collection.
