ST ALBANS RESTAURANT WORKER JAILED FOR RAPE OF TEENAGE GIRL
A sex attacker named Roziur Choudhury, a restaurant worker from Drakes Drive, St Albans, was sentenced to five years in prison after raping a teenage girl.
The incident occurred when Choudhury, aged 40, spotted the 17-year-old girl as she was walking home from the cinema in Hemel Hempstead.
After persuading her to get into his vehicle, he drove her to some garages where he proceeded torape her on the back seat.
The court heard that Choudhury denied the attack on the night of October 26 last year, claiming the girl had consented and even saying she had told him, "I am going to rape you." However, the jury took less than four hours and forty minutes to find him guilty.
In his sentencing, Judge Stephen Warner stated that "She was young, naive and vulnerable and you took advantage of that and she was at your mercy within your car." The judge also noted that by pleading not guilty, Choudhury caused the victim to relive her trauma during the trial.
Besides the five-year prison term, his name will be added to the Sex Offenders' Register indefinitely.
