HAWICK MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO SENDING EXPLICIT IMAGES TO DECOY POSING AS MINOR
BACKGROUND reports have been ordered into a 48-year-old Borders man named Roy Storey who admitted to sending naked images of himself to a person posing as a 14-year-old girl. The court heard that Storey, of Earl Street, Hawick, also made offers to send underwear to the decoy and requested images of her.
The decoy initially stated she was 18 but later revealed her true age.
The incident was uncovered when the decoy asked for his address so she could send a friendship bracelet.
Instead of meeting the girl, a group arrived at Storey’s home to confront him.
During police arrest in November 2021, officers found personal amounts of cannabis and amphetamine.
Storey claimed he sent the photographs because he was ‘drunk and confused’ after being told the girl was underage.
He has pleaded guilty to all charges and has been made subject to the notification requirements of the Sexual Offences Act.
His sentence has been deferred pending a Criminal Justice Social Work Report and assessment for a Restriction of Liberty Order until April 24.
