ROY SEYMOUR-MORRIS AND SHOCKING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CASE IN CAMBRIDGESHIRE
On March 27, law enforcement officers executed a visit to the residence of Roy Seymour-Morris in Cambridgeshire. At the time, Seymour-Morris was at a gym nearby, but as he returned to his property, officers observed him reaching towards the sunroof of his vehicle and discreetly inserting a mobile phone into that compartment.
This incident was part of a broader investigation that traced Seymour-Morris’s online activity, revealing that his internet connection had been used to upload illegal images depicting children.
Authorities acting on this evidence promptly seized the mobile device from Seymour-Morris’s vehicle.
A forensic examination uncovered that the phone stored three videos classified as Category A—indicating the most severe level of child exploitation material—and three additional indecent images categorized as Category C.
Furthermore, Seymour-Morris, aged 62, was found to be in violation of a prior court-imposed restriction known as a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
This order had been issued following his conviction for possessing indecent images of children at Guildford Crown Court in April 2018.
The breach occurred because Seymour-Morris failed to inform authorities about acquiring a new phone, preventing them from installing monitoring software as required by the court order.
The legal proceedings culminated on August 3 at Peterborough Crown Court, where Seymour-Morris, residing at Sandbank, Wisbech St Mary, was sentenced to a prison term of one year and eight months.
He pled guilty to several charges, including the distribution of an indecent photograph of a child, violating the terms of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and two counts of making indecent images of a child.
DC Claire Cummings commented on the case, stating, “Seymour-Morris knew what he was doing was illegal so I am glad he has faced justice.” Her remarks highlight the defendant’s awareness of his unlawful actions and the importance of legal repercussions in such serious cases of child exploitation.
