Aberystwyth Pensby Sexual Abuser
In September 2014, Ross Adams, formerly known as John Cousins, was released from prison and is now living near Aberystwyth in West Wales.

Back in November 2008, Adams, a former resident of Pensby on the Wirral, was sentenced to an indefinite prison term for sexually abusing two young girls. A judge described him as posing a significant risk to the public and imposed an indeterminate sentence for public protection.

Judge David Harris, QC, ordered Adams, who is 57 years old, to serve at least two and a half years before he can apply to the Parole Board for potential release. However, the judge was clear that "it is unlikely in the extreme that you will be able to demonstrate by that time that you are no longer a risk to society and justify the Parole Board releasing you."

Additionally, Adams was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.

Adams, then living on Fishers Lane, Pensby, was convicted by a jury at Liverpool Crown Court of six counts of sexual assault. He molested one girl repeatedly from the age of six and abused another girl when she was 14 and 16 years old.

Prosecutor Sophie Smith explained that Adams was residing in Pensby when the older girl lived there, while the other victim was from nearby Moreton. Adams was friendly with the younger girl and bought her gifts—a tactic used to gain her trust and then sexually exploit her. "He used to tell her he loved her, and when he started behaving inappropriately, he told her to keep it secret," she said. His abusive behaviour continued until she was eight years old, after which she confided in a neighbour, her parents, and the police.

At the time of his arrest, Adams was living in Pensby with his girlfriend. He denied the allegations both during police questioning and before the court.

During proceedings, it was revealed that Adams was abusing the second girl concurrently with the first. His defense attorney, Trevor Parry-Jones, stated that upon release, Adams would face a difficult life, as his partner would not be supporting him, and he would have to start anew.
