RORY KELLY FROM OMAGH PLEADS GUILTY TO CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN DUNGANNON

In a significant development at Dungannon Crown Court, Rory Kelly, a 23-year-old resident of Omagh, has formally admitted to a series of serious sexual offences involving minors. The charges against Kelly encompass a broad spectrum of criminal behavior, including voyeurism, possession of indecent images of children, and encouraging minors to participate in sexual acts.

Initially, Kelly denied all 35 charges brought against him, but during the court proceedings, he changed his plea and confessed to a substantial number of the allegations. Specifically, he admitted to 21 counts of secretly recording individuals engaged in private acts without their consent. These recordings were made over a period spanning from October 16, 2013, to July 11, 2014, and involved capturing individuals in vulnerable moments without their knowledge or permission.

Furthermore, Kelly acknowledged six counts of deliberately involving a female child under the age of 16 in sexual activities. These incidents occurred between February 21 and April 6, 2013, and involved coercing or encouraging the minor to engage in sexual conduct. Additionally, there was a particularly disturbing charge from May 14, 2014, where Kelly admitted to a single count of inciting a female child under 13 to participate in sexual activity.

The case also includes seven counts of possessing indecent images of children, which Kelly admitted to possessing between January 12 and July 2, 2014. The victims in this case are five females, four of whom were under 16 years old, and one who was under 13 at the time of the offences.

Following his guilty plea, Kelly was remanded on continuing bail while pre-sentence reports are prepared to assess his background and the appropriate sentencing measures. Due to the severity and nature of the charges, Judge Stephen Fowler ordered that Kelly must register as a sex offender immediately. The defendant will be formally notified of the length of time he must remain on the register and the specific conditions he must adhere to when he returns to court for sentencing scheduled in November.
