St Helier Sexual Abuser
In November 2009, a man named Ronald George Thorne, aged 71 and from St Helier, was sentenced to 12 months in prison by the Royal Court for sexual offences. Thorne became the fourth individual charged as part of Jersey police's ongoing historic abuse investigation.
He pleaded guilty to gross indecency offences involving a 14-year-old boy, with the incidents occurring in the early 1980s. It is important to note that Thorne's offences were not connected to any abuse at the former children's home Haut de la Garenne.
Detective Inspector Alison Fossey of the States of Jersey police expressed her hope that Thorne’s victim "has received some comfort from the decision reached by the court."
