ROYAL MAIL WORKER JAILED FOR LIFE FOR MURDERING EX-PARTNER OVER HOME SALE
A retired Royal Mail worker named Ronald Bacon has been sentenced to at least 16 years in prison after he murdered his ex-partner Tracy Goodwin.
The incident occurred when Bacon stabbed Tracy 12 times at their Kidbrooke home on February 24 of the previous year, after she returned from work.
The victim, 56 years old, was a legal secretary who shared a home with Bacon for 36 years, although they had been living separately since 1998.
Following the attack, Bacon, overwhelmed with emotion, called 999 and claimed, “I lost it, I stabbed her.
I couldn’t help it.” When authorities arrived, they found Bacon at the scene with a bloodied knife.
Medics attempted to save Tracy Goodwin, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
During the trial at the Old Bailey, Bacon was convicted of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 16 years.
Detective Inspector Mick Norman from the Homicide and Major Crime Command stated, “Bacon's actions resulted in the death of Tracy Goodwin and deprived her two children of a mother and grandmother.” The court hopes that the verdict provides her family with some closure.
