ROGER STEELE SENTENCED TO EIGHT YEARS IN PRISON IN KIDDERMINSTER FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON TEENAGE GIRL
Roger Timothy John Steele, 49, of Washington Street, Kidderminster, has been sentenced to eight years in prison for sexually assaulting a teenage girl aged between 14 and 15.Steele was identified as the man who lured a young girl into his car before subjecting her to a sexual assault after meeting her while she was shopping in Rhyl.
Caernarfon Crown Court heard that Steele had offered the girl a lift, then forced himself upon her until she managed to kick him and escape.
Steele, who now resides on Washington Street in Kidderminster, denied the charge of assault by penetration of a female aged 13 or over between 2007 and 2008, but a jury convicted him last week.
Prosecutor Paulinus Barnes stated that Steele had carried out the assault at his own residence.
During the incident, the victim managed to fight him off with a kick, but he told her that no one would believe her and threatened to harm her or her family if others found out, according to North Wales Live.
The victim disclosed her ordeal years later, in 2021, after learning of Steele’s conviction for another offence.
Her statement revealed that, although not solely because of this particular incident, she continues to suffer from night terrors.
She expressed relief now that Steele has been prosecuted and said she no longer fears for her or her family’s safety, although she remains anxious and uncomfortable around men.
Steele’s defense attorney, Edmund Potts, argued that Steele can still be rehabilitated, citing his recent employment progress from ground worker to supervisor within the construction industry.
In sentencing, Judge Nicola Saffman emphasized the deliberate planning involved in Steele’s actions—luring the girl to his home, using physical force, and making threats against her family.
She also issued an indefinite restraining order preventing Steele from contacting his victim and highlighted that Steele is subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.
