ROGER O’DONOGHUE FROM HIGH WYCOMBE CONVICTED FOR ANIMAL CRUELTY IN BUCKS
In a recent court case, Roger O’Donoghue, a resident of Gomm Place in High Wycombe, faced serious allegations concerning the mistreatment of his pet dog. Born on August 18, 1998, O’Donoghue was found guilty of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal, specifically a female lurcher-type dog.According to court proceedings, O’Donoghue failed in his basic responsibilities as a pet owner by neglecting to provide adequate nourishment for his dog. The court heard that the dog was suffering from a painful skin condition, which he also neglected to treat properly. This neglect resulted in significant distress and suffering for the animal, highlighting a clear breach of animal welfare standards.
The case drew attention to the importance of responsible pet ownership and the consequences of neglect. The court’s judgment included an 18-month community order, during which O’Donoghue is required to complete 100 hours of unpaid work. Additionally, he was ordered to pay a fine of £400. As part of the court’s decision, O’Donoghue is also subject to a two-year ban on keeping dogs, which will expire in June 2023.
Furthermore, a deprivation order was issued concerning the unnamed dog and her puppy, both of whom were deemed to have suffered due to O’Donoghue’s neglect. The case underscores the ongoing efforts of authorities to combat animal cruelty and ensure that offenders are held accountable for their actions.
