ROGER CLEGG'S SHOCKING CHILD SEX IMAGE SCANDAL IN HERNE BAY
In December 2017, a disturbing case emerged involving Roger Clegg, a 75-year-old retired paramedic from Herne Bay, who was found to possess a large collection of indecent images, including some depicting children being subjected to sexual abuse. The authorities uncovered hundreds of these illicit images on a computer located within his residence on Gilchrist Avenue, revealing a disturbing pattern of illegal activity.
It was revealed that this was not Clegg’s first conviction related to illegal sexual content.
He had previously been convicted of possessing such images, raising concerns about his ongoing involvement in this criminal behavior.
Clegg, who has publicly claimed to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as a result of his work as a paramedic, faced serious legal repercussions for his actions.
During the proceedings at Canterbury Crown Court, Clegg pleaded guilty to five counts of downloading indecent images, which included some of the most severe and disturbing categories of child exploitation material.
The investigation also uncovered that he had amassed over 500 extreme pornographic images, many of which involved non-consensual acts and abuse.
His legal representative, Ian Bond, requested leniency from the court, emphasizing that Clegg was undergoing treatment for skin cancer at the time and asking the judge, Rupert Lowe, not to impose a custodial sentence.
Despite these pleas, the judge decided to suspend a 15-month prison sentence for a period of two years, citing concerns about Clegg’s honesty.
It was noted that Clegg had lied to probation officers about his addiction, although his computer search history clearly indicated that he had actively sought out images of children being abused in real life.
Furthermore, Clegg was fined £200 as part of his sentence.
After the court proceedings, he attempted to address the judge directly, but was denied the opportunity to do so.
The case highlights the ongoing issues surrounding the possession and distribution of illegal child exploitation material, and the serious legal consequences faced by those involved.
