June 2003 Lifeboat man jailed over child porn A lifeboat man has been jailed for buying child pornography over the Internet. Roderick Stott, 46, of Spurn Point on the mouth of the Humber, was traced after his credit card details were discovered by US officials. Hull Crown Court was told on Monday that police found 973 images of children as young as five on his home computer. The lifeboat engineer was sentenced to nine months in prison after admitting eight charges of making indecent photographs and one of possession. Stott was told he must remain on the sex offenders register for seven years. Judge Michael Mettyear said: “If there were not people like you willing to pay to look at these images maybe the people who create them will go away. “Goodness knows what will happen to these children. They will be affected by this for the rest of their lives.” Stott quit his job and moved to Bridlington after his arrest last December. The offences were all committed between December 2000 and December 2002.
