GOVILON MAN ROCCO MALNATI JAILED FOR ABUSING TWO YOUNG GIRLS
A PREDATOR who sexually abused two girls has been sentenced.Prosecutor Hillary Roberts stated that Rocco Malnati, 51, from Blaenavon Road in Govilon, exhibited a dark side which led to him committing various sexual acts against the victims between 2004 and 2010.
Cardiff Crown Court was told that Malnati bought the first victim 'treats' such as alcohol and cigarettes.
He sexually abused her by performing oral sex, engaging in repeated acts of penile penetration, making her expose her breasts while he masturbated, and assaulting her in his car parked in a lay-by.
The victim expressed that she was aware of being exploited but felt powerless to stop it.
Additionally, Malnati masturbated in front of the second victim when she was 11 and engaged in penetrative abuse with her as a teenager.
The second victim told how she confronted Malnati about the abuse and warned he would kill himself if she reported him.
The offences surfaced in 2022 when her partner saw sexual photographs sent by Malnati.
Malnati admitted to sexual contact with the victims but claimed it occurred after they turned 16.
Initially scheduled for trial last September, the case was delayed until July, when he pleaded guilty to five charges involving sexual activity with a child and engaging in sexual acts in her presence.
The court was told that Malnati 'took my innocence at a very young age' and 'used me as a piece of meat to satisfy his deviant sexual desires', and she said she would never recover her childhood and constantly fears for her safety.
Recorder Paul Lewis KC sentenced him to 14 years and 10 months—12 years and 10 months in custody plus two years extended licence.
He is required to register as a sex offender for life and was issued an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.
Both victims received lifelong restraining orders.
The judge acknowledged the victims' bravery and stated, 'No sentence I can pass can undo the harm you have caused.'
