Ellesmere Sexual Abuser
In a disturbing case that has garnered significant attention, Robin Sprigg, a 53-year-old man from Ellesmere, Shropshire, was sentenced to a decade behind bars in the United States after attempting to engage in illegal sexual activities involving a minor. The incident took place in Arizona, where authorities uncovered his intentions through a covert operation aimed at preventing child exploitation.

Sprigg's arrest followed a series of covert investigations initiated after police received a tip-off from an informant. The tipster reported that Sprigg had offered cash in exchange for sex with a nine-year-old girl. Acting on this information, law enforcement officials set up an undercover operation in Mesa, Arizona, where they arranged to meet Sprigg. During the encounter, an undercover officer, Tom Bradbury, engaged with Sprigg and presented him with a selection of photographs depicting young girls, including the nine-year-old. Sprigg was allowed to choose his preferred girl from the images, and he subsequently negotiated a price for the illicit meeting.

According to police reports, Sprigg and the officer haggled over the cost for a three-hour encounter, finally settling on a sum of $500. Sprigg was found to have purchased a teddy bear and a pink dress in anticipation of meeting the girl, indicating premeditation and intent. He also accepted three tablets of Viagra and condoms, further underscoring his intentions.

Authorities observed Sprigg as he visited a local shop to buy the teddy bear and dress before heading to a hotel, where he believed he would spend the agreed-upon hours with the child. However, upon his arrival at the hotel, law enforcement officers promptly arrested him. He was charged with attempted exploitation of a minor and attempted sexual conduct with a minor, both serious criminal offenses.

Sprigg's visit to the United States was reportedly planned to last three weeks. During the investigation, he claimed to have had previous sexual encounters with girls in Las Vegas and San Francisco. However, police found no evidence to substantiate these claims, and they continue to scrutinize his background for any further criminal activity.

It was revealed that Sprigg was registered on the sex offenders' register, a measure that underscores the severity of his actions and the ongoing efforts to monitor individuals with a history of sexual offenses. His case has sparked discussions about the risks posed by international offenders and the importance of vigilant law enforcement to protect vulnerable minors from exploitation.
