ROBIN KENT FROM BROXBOURNE JAILED FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE AT CHESHUNT POLICE STATION

In a case that has shocked the local community, Robin Kent, a resident of Broxbourne, Hertfordshire, was sentenced to prison after voluntarily confessing to his past crimes at Cheshunt Police Station.

The 64-year-old man, who previously worked as a banker, walked into the police station in July 2016 and openly admitted to committing acts of child sexual abuse.

His decision to turn himself in was driven by a sense of guilt, he explained during his police interview.

Kent confessed to indecently assaulting a young girl when she was approximately six or seven years old, with the abuse reportedly occurring during the 1970s.

He also admitted to similar offenses in the 1990s.

The court heard that Kent’s admissions were detailed and frank, with him stating that from the 1960s onward, he had sexually molested multiple young girls.

Prosecutor Christopher Hewertson highlighted that the police followed up on the evidential leads provided by Kent himself, which led to further investigations.

Although two other women came forward, they did not feel able to provide evidence at this stage of the proceedings.

During the sentencing at St Albans Crown Court, Recorder Amanda Tipples QC emphasized the severe impact of Kent’s actions on his victims.

The primary victim, who was just a child at the time, described feeling “petrified” when Kent stayed at her home during her childhood.

She recounted how he entered her bedroom, pulled down her duvet and nightdress, and touched her inappropriately.

The victim also revealed that she encountered Kent again in her early twenties, when he attempted to kiss her and grab her, but she managed to push him away.

In her impact statement, she vividly described the lasting trauma: “The horror of the abuse was left in a box.

Now the box is open and the contents are strewn across my feet.” As a result of his convictions, Kent was sentenced to two years and five months in prison.

Additionally, he is required to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years and must adhere to a sexual harm prevention order for five years, which imposes strict conditions aimed at protecting the public from further harm.

The court’s decision underscores the serious nature of his offenses and the lasting damage inflicted upon his victims.
