ROBERTO ROSSI FROM LONDON DISMISSED AFTER GUILTY PLEA FOR CHILD INDECENCY PHOTOS
In December 2015, a Metropolitan Police officer based in London faced severe disciplinary action after admitting to serious criminal conduct involving child exploitation.PC Roberto Rossi, aged 38, was formally dismissed from his position within the force on December 14, following a special case hearing that considered his guilty plea.
Rossi's legal troubles began earlier in the year when he appeared at Oxford Magistrates' Court on August 25.
There, he pleaded guilty to two counts of making an indecent photograph or pseudo-photograph of a child, a charge that highlights the severity of his actions and the breach of trust inherent in his role as a police officer.
Subsequently, on September 29, Rossi was sentenced at the same court.
The court handed down a two-year community order, which requires him to be under supervision for the duration of the order.
Additionally, he was mandated to attend 20 sessions of an internet sex offenders programme, aimed at addressing his conduct and preventing future offenses.
As part of his sentence, Rossi was also ordered to pay £160 in court costs.
The allegations against Rossi centered on his conduct, which was deemed to be a breach of the professional standards expected of police officers.
The case was considered to involve discreditable conduct, reflecting a serious violation of the ethical and professional standards that police officers are held to uphold.
The chair of the disciplinary hearing concluded that Rossi's actions amounted to gross misconduct, leading to his immediate dismissal from the Metropolitan Police force.
This case underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to maintain integrity within their ranks and to take swift disciplinary action against officers who violate the law or professional standards.
The Metropolitan Police have reiterated their commitment to upholding high standards of conduct and ensuring public trust is maintained.
