OXFORD MAN JAILED FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AFTER VICIOUS ATTACK
Police have praised the bravery of a victim of domestic violence after her former partner was jailed.Robert Zasada, was sentenced to 40 months in prison after the abuse occurred in February this year.
Zasada, aged 34 and from West Wycombe Road, High Wycombe, pleaded guilty to one count of actual bodily harm just one day before facing trial.
Detective constable Kelly Williams from Oxford’s domestic abuse investigation unit commended the victim for her courage in coming forward and supporting the case, emphasizing that Thames Valley Police takes assault and domestic violence very seriously.
Prosecutor James Gwatkin described the relationship as 'volatile' and recounted that they were in a situation involving drinking and drug use at a flat in Oxford, where the woman suffered multiple facial wounds and was hospitalised.
The court heard that Zasada's behavior was unacceptable and his conviction reflected this; the judge described the incident as 'a serious domestic violence case' and characterized Zasada as 'a violent man' involved in 'a violent relationship.' The judge indicated that Zasada believed the victim was unfaithful, which led to an 'indiscriminate and frenzied attack.' The sentencing was 40 months of imprisonment along with a seven-year restraining order.
Authorities hope this sentence signals their stance on domestic violence and encourages victims to seek help.
