SHREWSBURY PHYSIOTHERAPIST ROBERT WILLIAMS SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON PATIENT

Robert Williams, a physiotherapist based in Shrewsbury, has been sentenced to prison after being convicted of sexually assaulting one of his patients. The incident occurred at his practice located in Mardol, Shrewsbury, where the victim had gone for treatment related to a painful knee.

Williams, aged 66 and residing at Pensfold, Bicton Heath, was found guilty following a thorough two-day trial held at Shrewsbury Crown Court. The court's decision resulted in a 15-month custodial sentence, reflecting the severity of the crime. In addition to his imprisonment, Williams was subjected to a 10-year Sex Offenders Notification Order, which mandates ongoing registration and monitoring of his activities.

Detective Constable Nick Williams, who is part of Shropshire’s Reactive CID, publicly commended the bravery of the victim for coming forward and sharing her experience. He acknowledged her resilience and determination throughout the lengthy legal process, which spanned over the past few years.

Expressing satisfaction with the court's ruling, Detective Constable Williams emphasized the importance of taking allegations of sexual misconduct seriously. He stated, “I am pleased with the court result and sentencing, and I hope the knowledge that police will take such allegations seriously, and will do their best to bring offenders of sexual crimes to justice, will give other victims the confidence to come forward.”
