ROBERT WARD FROM FIFE SENTENCED AFTER DISCOVERY OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IMAGES

In a serious case that has shocked the community of Fife, Robert Ward, a 54-year-old resident of Alma Street, Inverkeithing, has been sentenced following the discovery of explicit images involving minors.

The incident came to light during a police operation in Kirkcaldy, where officers executed a search warrant at Ward’s residence in July 2021.

According to court reports, Ward claimed that his interest in teenage models was merely an appreciation of their beauty, asserting that he was not sexually attracted to children.

However, police investigations painted a different picture.

During the search, officers uncovered hundreds of images stored on a laptop computer, with approximately half of these images still accessible at the time of discovery.

It was revealed that the laptop was found in the bedroom used by a young girl who was staying at the address.

The police report detailed that Ward became visibly upset during the search, admitting to his partner that he had been viewing material he knew he shouldn’t have.

He reportedly said, “I’ve been looking at things I shouldn’t have,” indicating remorse or at least awareness of his actions.

Further examination of the laptop uncovered a disturbing collection of 1,033 images, with 533 of these still accessible to the user.

The images depicted females aged between six and 15 years old, raising serious concerns about Ward’s intentions and the nature of his online activity.

Ward admitted to officers that he had been searching for teenage models and had used the Tor browser approximately two or three times weekly to access a modelling website.

He also acknowledged that he was infatuated with one particular model, who appeared to be between 14 and 16 years old, and admitted that he knew these models were minors.

During the court proceedings, the prosecution highlighted that Ward had made indecent photographs of children at an address in Crosshill between December 27, 2019, and March 9 of the following year.

Ward also admitted to allowing a young girl to use the laptop containing the illicit images.

In sentencing, Sheriff Jamie Gilchrist emphasized the gravity of the case, stating, “This is a serious case.” Ward was placed under supervision for two years and was already registered on the Sex Offenders Register.

Additional restrictions were imposed, including a ban on contact with children under 16 without prior approval from his supervising officer.

Ward is also required to surrender any devices with internet access for inspection at any time and must reside in approved accommodation.

Deputy Fiscal Claire Bremner provided further details, noting that officers found Ward upset and remorseful during the search, and that he had expressed regret about his online activities.

The court’s decision reflects the severity of the offense and the ongoing concern for the safety of minors in the community of Fife.
