WALSALL MAN ROBERT TURNER JAILED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL NEAR WALSALL
In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, Robert Michael Turner, a 21-year-old resident of Bloxwich Road South in Willenhall, has been sentenced to prison after admitting to engaging in sexual activities with a minor. The incident unfolded in Walsall, where Turner’s actions have sparked widespread concern and condemnation.
According to court records and police reports, Turner had a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old girl he met through online messaging.
The girl, whose identity remains protected, initially connected with Turner via BBM, a popular messaging platform at the time.
Over the course of a few weeks, the two exchanged messages, spoke on the phone, and built a relationship that eventually led to their first face-to-face meeting.
The first encounter took place near the girl’s residence in Walsall in August 2014.
During this meeting, the pair engaged in sexual activity in a local park, an act that has now led to serious legal consequences for Turner.
The court heard that the girl had told police she met Turner online and that their communication involved chatting, messaging, and phone calls over a period of time before they decided to meet.
Further complicating the case, two teenagers who knew Turner independently informed authorities that they had warned him about the girl’s age.
One of these teenagers explicitly told Turner that the girl was only 13, and another reportedly mentioned that she had admitted to being 13, even stating, “it was wrong.” Despite these warnings, Turner continued his interactions with her.
During police interviews, Turner claimed that he had accepted a friend request from the girl on BBM.
He stated that she initially told him she was 16 and had a boyfriend, but two days later, she confided that she was only 14.
Turner maintained that he told her she was too young for him and suggested they could only communicate as friends.
However, this explanation did little to mitigate the severity of his actions, which led to his conviction.
Stafford Crown Court, where the case was heard, found Turner guilty of four charges related to engaging in sexual activity with a girl under the age of 16.
His sentencing reflects the gravity of his offenses and the importance of protecting minors from exploitation.
The case has served as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by online interactions and the importance of vigilance among young people and their guardians in Walsall and beyond.
