It was during a recent hearing at the High Court in Edinburgh that the full extent of Tait’s crimes was disclosed.

The victim, whose identity is protected for legal reasons, endured Tait’s misconduct until she reached the age of 13.
The court was also told about the abuse of a 10-year-old boy, which began in January 1990 at another residence within the city.
Tait subjected this young boy to horrifying acts, including forcing him to watch pornographic films and perform sexual acts in front of him.
This abuse continued until January 1994.
These revelations emerged after Tait, who was then a prisoner at HMP Saughton, pleaded guilty to charges of lewd, indecent, and libidinous practices.
The case was heard before Judge Lord Burns at the High Court in Edinburgh last month.
The court was informed that Tait had previously been sentenced in October 2011 to two years in prison for abusing two girls between October 1990 and March 1996.
However, the recent disclosures prompted the court to defer sentencing to allow for the preparation of reports regarding Tait’s character.
Today, the court sentenced Tait to an additional four years in prison, marking a significant escalation in his punishment.
