ST NEOTS SEX OFFENDER ROBERT SWINDEN JAILED FOR BREACHING CONDITIONS
A sex offender from St Neots has been sentenced to jail after violating the conditions of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
Robert Swinden, aged 46, attempted to conceal his internet activity by wiping his browsing history, refused to cooperate by decline to share information about his devices, and hid two bank cards from authorities.
Swinden was originally issued a SHPO in 2019, which required him to adhere to specific behavioural restrictions for a period of 10 years.
During routine checks, officers visited his residence on March 2, 2020, and examined his mobile phone and home computer, according to Cambridgeshire Constabulary.
It was found that his phone had no internet history, which was a clear breach of his SHPO conditions.
When asked to hand over all other devices associated with him, Swinden refused twice, breaching his order further, and was subsequently arrested.
A search of his home uncovered two bank cards which he had failed to disclose to police, constituting another breach of his obligations under the sex offender register.
Swinden, of Russell Court, St Neots, faced charges of two counts of breaching his SHPO and failing to comply with sex offender register requirements.
He pleaded guilty to all charges and was also found to have breached a previously suspended sentence in the process.
