ROBERT ORLEY FROM HARTLEPOOL SENTENCED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IN DISTURBING CASE
In March 2021, a deeply disturbing case emerged involving Robert Orley, a 29-year-old resident of Hartlepool, who was found in possession of highly distressing and illegal images depicting the sexual abuse of young children.The investigation revealed that Orley had stored these heinous images across two mobile phones, containing a total of 202 images and three videos.
Among these, 58 were classified as Category A, indicating the most severe level of child exploitation material.
Prosecutor Jon Harley, speaking at Teesside Crown Court during the sentencing hearing, detailed the horrifying nature of the content.
The images and videos depicted girls aged between 10 and 16 years being subjected to sexual abuse, a revelation that underscored the gravity of the offense.
The police had been alerted to Orley's internet activity, prompting a visit to his residence to carry out an arrest.
During the operation, officers seized the two mobile devices, which contained a disturbing array of material: 55 images in Category A, three Category A videos, 53 images in Category B, and 94 in Category C.
The court was presented with graphic details about the content, though these descriptions were deemed too distressing to publish publicly.
Orley was interviewed twice by law enforcement officers but remained silent throughout both sessions, refusing to comment on the allegations or the evidence presented.
The case was brought before the Magistrates' Court, where Orley pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing indecent images of children.
It was noted that he had no prior convictions and had previously struggled with a gambling addiction, which he had managed to overcome.
Judge Howard Crowson delivered the sentence, imposing eight months in prison, suspended for 12 months.
Additionally, Orley was placed under a 10-year sexual harm prevention order, restricting his activities and contact with minors.
The court also mandated that he complete 25 days of rehabilitation activities aimed at addressing his behavior and preventing future offenses.
This case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat the distribution and possession of child abuse images, and the serious consequences faced by those found guilty of such crimes.
