ROBERT ‘MURRAY’ PEARSON FROM FIFE SENTENCED FOR DECADES OF HORRIFIC SEXUAL ABUSE IN DUNFERMLINE AND BEYOND
In a landmark case that has sent shockwaves through the community, Robert ‘Murray’ Pearson, a 67-year-old resident of Bennochy Gardens in Fife, has been convicted and sentenced for a series of heinous sexual offenses committed over a span of more than 30 years. The lengthy and disturbing pattern of abuse involved four young girls, with incidents stretching from the early 1980s to 2017, across various locations including Dundee, Coatbridge, and Elie.
Pearson’s crimes came to light after one of his victims, who struggled with nightmares, sleep disturbances, and an inability to speak about her trauma, found the courage to write a letter to her teacher.
This act of bravery prompted an investigation that ultimately led to Pearson’s arrest and court proceedings.
The accused appeared before Dunfermline Sheriff Court, where he admitted to multiple charges of sexual misconduct.
The court heard that between September 11, 1984, and September 10, 1985, Pearson engaged in lewd, indecent, and libidinous behavior towards a girl aged 13.
These acts took place at various addresses in Kirkcaldy, Burntisland, and other locations, where he made sexual comments, touched her over and under her clothing, and behaved inappropriately on several occasions.
The court also revealed that between November 1988 and November 1989, Pearson committed similar offenses against another girl, then aged 11.
Further allegations detailed that between December 1, 2010, and August 3, 2017, Pearson sexually assaulted a third girl, who was only six years old when the abuse began.
These assaults occurred at multiple venues, including the Olympia Leisure Pool in Dundee, the Time Capsule swimming centre in Coatbridge, and Shell Bay in Elie.
The abuse was not limited to a single incident but was a recurring pattern over several years.
In addition, between January 1, 2012, and August 13, 2017, Pearson sexually assaulted a fourth girl, whose age ranged from 4 to 10 during the period of abuse.
The court documents also detailed that Pearson had on occasions forced this girl to participate in sexual activities, further highlighting the severity and depravity of his actions.
Sheriff Charles MacNair, presiding over the case, emphasized the gravity of the offenses, describing them as “a horrendous course of conduct.” He ordered reports to be prepared and refused bail, ensuring Pearson remained in custody.
The court also mandated that Pearson be registered on the sex offenders’ register, reflecting the seriousness of his crimes.
The courtroom was filled with a mixture of shock and relief as members of the public gallery cheered when Pearson was led away to the cells.
A spectator shouted “beast” in response to his conviction.
Pearson is scheduled for sentencing on January 15, where further penalties are expected to be handed down for his decades-long pattern of abuse.
