Hackney Child Sexual Abuser
A man who sexually abused a child has been sentenced to prison. The court revealed how the victim, a boy under the age of 13, suffered abuse at the hands of 34-year-old Robert Lomas at an address in Hackney. In November, the child courageously came forward to police, supported by specially trained officers. He provided a video recorded statement detailing the abuse he endured. Following this, a manhunt was launched, leading to Lomas's arrest on November 19. Despite denying all allegations, Lomas was charged the following day. Detective Constable Tom Millard from the Central East Command Unit commended the child's bravery, stating, “I want to commend the bravery shown by this child in having the courage to come forward and report this abuse to police. They have shown immense strength and courage to support our investigation, and it is down to them that Lomas has been sentenced to a lengthy spell in prison.” The article reports that Robert Lomas, from Hackney, was jailed for 24 years at Wood Green Crown Court on July 19 after being found guilty in May of three counts of rape, one count of assault by penetration, and one count of sexual assault by touching.
