ROBERT JONES FROM SWINDON FACES JAIL AFTER GROOMING AND POSSESSING NEARLY 2000 CHILD INDECENT IMAGES
In a serious case that has shocked the community of Swindon, 33-year-old Robert Jones has been implicated in a series of disturbing offenses involving the grooming and exploitation of minors. The allegations against Jones include meeting a young girl he had groomed for sexual purposes, attempting to meet another underage girl, and possessing an extensive collection of indecent images of children.
According to court reports, Jones first came into contact with a 13-year-old girl during a week in April of the previous year.
During this period, he engaged in grooming behavior that ultimately led to a meeting with the young girl, an act that is now considered a serious criminal offense.
The grooming process involved manipulating the girl, likely through online communication, with the intent of establishing a sexual relationship.
Further investigations revealed that Jones was not content with just one victim.
In September and October of the same year, he attempted to meet another girl whom he believed to be under the age of 16.
These attempts underscore a pattern of predatory behavior and a disturbing disregard for the safety and well-being of minors.
The police examination of Jones’s computer uncovered a staggering collection of indecent images.
Authorities found nearly 2,000 such images stored on his device, with more than half classified in the most severe category of indecency.
This evidence highlights the extent of his involvement in the distribution and possession of child exploitation material.
Jones, who resides on Leighton Avenue in Swindon, pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including meeting a child following grooming, attempting to meet another underage girl, and possessing indecent images of children.
His guilty plea reflects acknowledgment of the gravity of his actions and the serious threat he posed to minors.
During the court proceedings, Judge Tim Mousley QC decided to adjourn the case until Tuesday, April 18.
The adjournment allows for the preparation of comprehensive probation and psychological reports, which will likely influence sentencing.
The judge also ordered Jones to remain in custody until the next hearing, emphasizing the severity of his crimes.
In his remarks, Judge Mousley indicated that a custodial sentence was the probable outcome, stating, “Obviously a custodial sentence is the likely outcome of this offending.” The case continues to develop as authorities seek justice for the victims and ensure that appropriate measures are taken to prevent further harm.
