ROBERT JENNER FROM SNODLAND FOUND GUILTY OF EXPOSURE IN MARCH 2019 CASE

In March 2019, a jury convicted ex-soldier Robert Jenner of Snodland for multiple charges of exposure during the course of his work as a delivery driver. Jenner, 44, who described himself as a naturist, had admitted to not wearing underpants while delivering parcels and wore jeans with a cut-out in the crotch area.

Dressed in a dark suit, white shirt, and brown tie, Jenner remained composed as the jury delivered guilty verdicts on 10 counts of exposure. The jury has not yet reached a verdict on an 11th count. Jenner maintained his innocence throughout the trial.

At Canterbury Crown Court, Jenner explained that his interest in naturism began after serving in the infantry in Iraq. His barrister, Kate Chidgey, asked him, "Do you consider yourself to be a naturist?" Jenner responded, "To me naturism means being open.”

When questioned about others' reactions when he was out practicing naturism, Jenner said, "Most people are indifferent. Some are bemused and laughing and joking. I can’t think of a time when someone was alarmed, or shocked." He shared that he had participated in naturist trips to Alton Towers and other theme parks in the West Country, as well as on naked bike rides. He also frequented naturist beaches and confirmed that he was often naked unless the temperature was very cold, saying, “Yes... well unless the temperature fell!”

In addition to these incidents, Jenner disclosed that in February 2017, he was acquitted on 13 charges of disorderly behaviour.
